Yousuf Karsh was one of the great portrait photographers of the twentieth century. He was a master of capturing the true essence of his subjects, and a master of light because he understood how it could be sculpted to define a person. He used it to contour the face, to shape expression, and to reveal character.
This project follows that belief. I am creating 50 portraits that carry the same respect for light and for the person in front of the camera. Rather than posing the subject, I want their natural character and personality to come through on its own. Each image is an attempt to capture presence and truth, to show something that belongs only to that sitter.
If you would like to be part of 50 Portraits, please send a photograph of yourself with a few words about your profession or what you are passionate about. A studio or location session will then be arranged so we can create your portrait together. You can get in touch using the contact details below, by email or WhatsApp. I look forward to hearing from you and arranging your studio or on location session.
